Blurb from Goodreads:

"Saba has spent her whole life in Silverlake, a dried-up wasteland ravaged by constant sandstorms. The Wrecker civilization has long been destroyed, leaving only landfills for Saba and her family to scavenge from. That's fine by her, as long as her beloved twin brother Lugh is around. But when four cloaked horsemen capture Lugh, Saba's world is shattered, and she embarks on a quest to get him back.

Suddenly thrown into the lawless, ugly reality of the outside world, Saba discovers she is a fierce fighter, an unbeatable survivor, and a cunning opponent. Teamed up with a handsome daredevil named Jack and a gang of girl revolutionaries called the Free Hawks, Saba's unrelenting search for Lugh stages a showdown that will change the course of her own civilization."

Welp.

Two star ratings are rare for me.....and I don't like giving them out...but....I couldn't help it?

Okay, I admit, I'd say.....hummm.....90% of the reason why I read this book was because I heard a lot of good things about this book, and...um...author visits to Chapters!  So, yes, I....read this book, PURELY because of all the hype.  But.  What did I get?  NOTHING GOOD!

The thing that annoyed me the most....was probably the language....the words! It really bothered me....some people might think it's cool and unique, and that's fine. But, it BOTHERS me. UGH. Spelling "for" as "fer". Or..."exactly" as "ezzactly" or....something like that. POINT IS. I NO LIKE THIS!

Moving on.

The second thing I couldn't stand was....Saba. THE MAIN CHARACTER. If I don't like the protagonist of a story....um.....chances are....I'm not going to like the book any more....

Saba is.....stubborn. Okay, yes, stubbornness can be admirable in protagonists....but there's a limit to it, too. In certain quantities, it's great! But Saba.....oh Saba....you took it way, WAY, too far.

Pushing everyone away from you, thinking you can do it yourself....thinking you don't need them, that they'll only slow you down? Ugh.

No.

OKAY, moving on. Again.

Despite Saba's frustrating stubbornness and the irritating language....I actually....quite liked the....story. The plot. The idea.

The Cage, an interesting place. The chaal (?) the King uses to control the people....also another interesting aspect....

Now, if only Saba could be a little less stubborn, and the intentional spelling errors fixed.....my star rating would definitely go up!

Next book? Hmm....maybe. Probably...........................
Any other books you can think of with UNIQUE spellings?
Lemme know so I can avoid them and put them on my "I will never evereverevereverever read this ever" list.
